Hi! Thank you for stopping by. I have made it a goal to write more each day and to be online more in the next few months. Just finishing with a busy summer- ready for Fall! But, I did want to share some photos of vacation I just got back from. I am prepared, I think, for the school year. But. We shall see! I have completed a chapbook of poetry and have been sending it off. My poetry blog is growing — a little. I think I have been seeking inspiration before I sat down to write and now I know I just have to, well, sit and write! Confession? I sense that I am scared to write what I deeply feel, to say what I want to say. Even on paper. Especially on paper. Why? Perhaps because I have a deeply felt desire to make things in my life different and putting it out there means that it will be known, and it may or may not come true. My manifesting powers seem to be waning. Where did my sparkle and joy go? This phase is not fun. I want to get through it. Write about that, then, you say. Okay. I will. Ah. I feel better already.

Now, for vacation. It was fun in a few ways, definitely memorable, and it taught me some things about myself, too. I did write a few poems, of which I will share a few on a later post. Today I just felt like doing a little photo sharing!

What type of vacation would inspire you? Have you ever been someplace amazing and felt a deep sense of awe? Care to share any bad or good vacation stories?

Thanks for tagging along with me! Have a great day!

Hello. Just an update here today on the writing front.

I now have my 2016 Poet’s Market book and am going to be planning out my goals for getting some poems out there in magazines, journals, contests. I am so excited!

I have started a collection of new poems. I am working on adding detail to my current project, hoping to have enough added that I can send it in for review in a few weeks time. This book is changing before my eyes. What a process!

As I do this I am going through a streamlining process on my social media and am keeping only what really relates to my writing and my dreams. That, too, has been a process involving several days. I found a picture that kind of portrays how good this feels. Here it is!

woman-865021_640

I am so very thankful to be here with the time to write and express my heart. I know that next year I will be getting back into teaching. My writing time will change and in fact already has as I am subbing this year in the classroom. But my heart will always need to write and I will always create a space and time for it; now that I have given life to it I feel it needs  a chance to flourish and grow.

I sometimes post updates on Facebook, and if you would like to see those plus quotes and other bits of inspiration, join me there. I would love very much to see you there! I am at http://www.facebook.com/kimberlyduboiseauthor

Thanks so much, and happy reading !!

Writing My Story

clipboards-924044_640

Hi! Thanks for visiting with me today. Here’s an update on my latest WIP.

I just broke 20K words and have received feedback on some changes to make. I am

adding a bit more detail, personal experiences, in my work.  My book is about my life

and my spiritual journey. I hadn’t planned on a lot of personal detail as my life hasn’t

been full of rainbows and lollipops, and I originally set my book out to be inspirational

in my mind. I envisioned it to be encouraging, uplifting. Not a sob story. But I see in

going back over what I have written that I need to add examples, life experiences. So

as slow as I am going, I am still trudging through memories and putting pen to paper.

I’d love to have this done soon but I know it will take as long as it takes. I am learning

to trust  in the process and visualize the end result. Also, I am subbing in the

classrooms this year and that is quite the experience! I am very anxious to get my

career settled again. My writing and I have had quite the journey together this past

year and that, too, has been emotional.

I wonder, as this year is getting close to the end, if I have accomplished all I wanted

to in the end. How far I still have to go in fulfilling my dream!! But I will persevere.

What about you? Any dreams still calling or just begun? Realized?

That’s part of your story.

Here’s to creating a happy ending!

Love and Happy Reading,

Kimberly

Hi!  Thank you for stopping by.

I am pleased to announce the arrival of my second book of poetry, Echoes of Moonlight. It is available now in e-book or paperback. Here’s a little bit about it.

It is a full-length poetry book with poems on the themes of nature, love, divinity. It is a book that I am so proud of. Within its pages are poems of a devotional and deeply honest nature. Expressions of my highest, Spiritual self are put out there in a open, reflective way. Do you like devotionals and contemplative, spiritual reads? Then you may love what’s in store for you within the musings of my heart, written over a trying period rich with gifts nonetheless. Writing this book was challenging, invigorating, uplifting. I loved every minute of it.

Thanks again for reading and sharing in my happiness. Love shared is love multiplied!

Check it out on Amazon, available now!

Hi!

young-woman-635249_640

Just an announcement during this busy weekend that I have a new poetry book out, titled Echoes of Moonlight. It is a collection of poetry on the themes of love, nature and divinity. I am so pleased with the poems and how the book came together. I have been writing poetry since around my college years, and this is my second poetry book. I also have been writing on my blog , tinypoet86.blogspot.com, too.

This book takes an uplifting and buoyant look at life. Within the pages of this book you will be grappling with inner emotions and addressing your dreams, taking time to appreciate the wonder of all life is.

I love that words can inspire, encourage, awaken, soothe and transform.

I love the very best of words that call us to an awareness of our highest Self.

Join me on an adventure of soul and spirit in my book of poems, available now!!

Reading and Writing Link

woman-737438_640

I have always loved reading. I have been writing poetry for a long time (since college). It is only recently that I started thinking about the link between what we like to read and what we write. For me, writing is a way to get in touch with my emotions. It is a way to process how I feel, to understand what I am going through. I look for the meaning behind it all, want to know the why of things. I don’t like randomness or uncertainty. Perhaps that is one spirit-growing thing writing has brought into my life – the full fledged facing of things that make me feel on edge. I know it has also afforded me insight into myself and given me time to reflect on my life.

evening-lake-639699_640

What kind of books make you think? Inspire you? Bring you to a new level of understanding? Those are the types of books I loved to read and want to write. I am excited to be on this journey. Great things are ahead! I just finished reading “What’s your what?” by Julie Moret and I tell you I have come away feeling so encouraged again. That is what a great book does, for me anyway. Lifts me up to greater things, a renewed vision of myself. Have you read an inspiring book lately?? I’d love to know!

Thanks for taking a moment to join me in my reflection. Engage your heart and mind with a good book this week!!

Writing Update

evening-lake-639699_640

Hi! Here is an update on my writing as of late: I have finished my latest project. Yes!

I have been writing the past few weeks and have finally finished the manuscript of my latest WIP. I feel so anxious to have it out into the world and tomorrow I will begin working on crafting my query letter. I am going to be submitting it to many places and I really look forward to having it published! I could self-publish it but have opted not to, for now. My book, titled A Soul In Flight, Turner Syndrome and Me, is a sort of memoir about my life with Turner Syndrome. It was very challenging and personal, a real stretch of my willingness to dive into feelings and memories. Not easy writing!

woman-792162_640

I hope it serves to inspire and uplift many. I hope it gives encouragement and insight. Such big hope for a book!! I feel hopeful. I love the emotional component to my book and it feels a bit scary to put it out there. I know that my dream for this book means so much for me because this is the story I need to tell.

sparkler-839831_640

So now I write my query and cover letter. I submit. Submit. Submit. I wait for my story to make it into the world. Soon.

Wish me luck!

Defining Ourselves

dreams poem

I had a moment of doubt recently. I needed clarity. Perspective. So what did I do? I did what I normally don’t do. I reached out and expressed my feelings. Just a little bit. What happened?  Someone dear to me responded. She gave me support, encouraged me and gave her opinion. It was so heartwarming! The advice she gave was so perfect and timely. She made a comment that stuck with me, beyond what to do about my situation. Her comment was on how we as women tend to define ourselves by our roles, by what we do. And we shouldn’t.

That got me thinking. Isn’t it true that we are much more than what we do? Sure, what we do stems from how we see ourselves, but are we acting from true self-knowledge or someone else’s view of ourselves that we adopted?

It boils down to this: are we being authentic, true to ourselves?

young-woman-635249_640

The situation I am trying to resolve does involve my writing. It involves life dreams and of course, finances. Whatever choice I make affects my future and that of my husband. No pressure here!

There is a wisdom in seeing yourself as more than your career, defining yourself in more honest and even spiritual terms. Also, We may get fulfillment in life through many avenues. I think where I was struggling was that I wanted my career to bring me too much (all?). My perspective, my expectations, might have been off. Just a little.

So, whatever choice I make, I am feeling at least a little more confident that all will be well and that I can still offer my writer’s soul some room to grow this year and into next. And beyond. I know I can still offer it , maybe not all of my time, but as much as I can. I can feed my dream with love and nurture it. I can offer it, maybe not all of my heart, but at least a piece of it. A piece of my heart. Hm. Excuse me while I go compose a poem. With love.

From the heart,

Kimberly DuBoise

Hello! Thanks for stopping by!  I can hardly believe we are closing in on the first official day of summer. It’s been a while since I have posted anything. I spent some time this past month without a laptop (broken, now have a different one!) then went on vacation. I spent time with family. I got lost in a few books. A great way to start the summer, right?

books-676425_640

I hope your summer is getting off to a great start, too. Do you have plans made? Are there things you do every summer that are tradition? I hope to start adding to my collection of nature photographs.

rose-144122_640

As far as my writing goes, I am making progress with my WIP, a sort of personal account of my experience with Turner Syndrome. I hope to be done and looking for a book cover within a month! So exciting! I am also submitting my full-length poetry book to several places. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for keeping up with me.  I am so encouraged by the growing support around me for my trek into the writing world. That’s the truth!

I’ll post some vacation pictures soon and look forward to hearing of your adventures, too!

Enjoy what the day brings. Savor the moment. Life is beautiful.

old-letters-436501_640

Well, I am nearing the halfway point of my current WIP. My story is about having Turner Syndrome. It’s not exactly a memoir, in the sense that I am not chronicling my school years and such in detail and sequence.

Instead I seem to be expressing my thoughts on different themes, relating my experiences when I can. How life with TS shaped my perceptions and gave me my personal challenges, that is what I want to write about. I have a goal, a dream for this book, that it will inspire and encourage. Uplift. It is the reason I want to and need to write.

As I write, I am asking myself questions. I am wanting to share my experience while at the same time not come across as negative, whiny, uninspiring. I am still so much of  introvert! Opening up is hard.

Perhaps that is why it feels good. It is time to face the dragon. My dragon.
